Karanović & Partners hosted another successful event for legal professionals interested in arbitration and dispute resolution. Arbitration Matinée, aimed at in-house legal counsels, executives, and other legal professionals, was held on 22 February in Belgrade and was attended by more than 60 participants who had a unique chance to gain direct insight into the arbitration process and practical tips for optimizing their position in the event of a dispute. The event was co-hosted with VIAC and CMS and supported by YAAP.
The hosts of the event, Milica Savić, Partner in our Dispute Resolution department and Sonja Otenhajmer, Partner in CMS, moderated a lively and interactive discussion. The panellists Niamh Leinwather, VIAC Secretary General, Andrea Potparević Nikolić, Legal Counsel at STRABAG Group, Marija Šćekić, Director at Squire Patton Boggs and Veljko Smiljanić, Head of Legal at United Media.
Speakers shared insights from different perspectives on the decision-making process when choosing the dispute resolution forum and potential challenges in drafting the arbitration clause. They shared insights as to how relevant is it for business to choose the most adequate dispute resolution forum and what are the benefits of choosing arbitration for specific disputes in comparison to courts.
The event was held in Saint Ten hotel in Belgrade and was followed by a networking cocktail.
