Karanović & Partners together with the Serbian Association of Managers organized a business breakfast on 13 October 2022. Our colleagues prepared an informative talk on the subject matter, with the aim of contributing to the local business community. The event gathered numerous executives and business founders interested in this innovative mechanism to motivate and reward their employees.
Partner Ivan Nonković gave an engaging introduction to the speech, explaining why this type of incentive is an effective way to retain talents and make them long-term partners. He also listed available modalities of employee stock ownership plans.
Our Partner Maja Jovančević Šetka, gave an insight into the capital market, foreign exchange, labour, and other key areas of regulation, as well as the court practice concerning employee stock ownership, while the Senior Consultant Branimir Rajšić discussed tax aspects of this issue, including tax returns and penalties.
Senior Associate Boris Radojčić made the final point about the possible ways employee stock ownership can impact employee salary compensation calculations, emphasizing that the development of stock ownership plans also has potential ramifications on the employee compensation structure.
The business breakfast created relatable content for the audience, who took part in the discussion and had many interesting questions and remarks. Though local employee stock ownership plans are new to the Serbian market, both speakers and guests agreed it will become one of the essential elements of employment policies in the years to come.
