On 26 March, Karanović & Partners collaborated with the Serbian Games Association (SGA) to host a business breakfast as part of the SGA Legal Insights initiative. This initiative serves as a platform for legal experts to share their knowledge and expertise on key topics within the video game development sector.
The event centred around the dynamics of publishing contracts in the video game industry, offering a practical overview of the issues encountered when negotiating such agreements. Representatives from various companies seized the opportunity to seek guidance and engage in pro bono legal consultations.
Our Senior Associate Nikola Kliska and Associate Pavle Vučetić guided the participants through the workshop. They delved into crucial aspects such as the concept and elements of publishing contracts, navigating intellectual property law within this context, especially copyright, understanding financial implications, termination clauses, WIPO Arbitration, and market standards. Drawing from real-world examples, they provided practical insights from their experience.
As collaboration with global publishers is crucial for many domestic companies to access the global market and various publishing platforms, the event gained significant attention. Professionals from the gaming industry and related fields, encompassing digital content production and publisher collaborations, actively participated in the enriching discussion.
