On 22 October 2024, our Senior Associate Andrej Jelenković moderated a panel at the Legal Pro Forum dedicated to the legal and technical dimensions of cybersecurity. The discussion primarily focused on the NIS 2 Directive, addressing its implications and examining civil and criminal cases related to cybersecurity incidents.
Dr. Milena Nikolić from Siemens Energy provided valuable insights into the regulatory landscape of cybersecurity, emphasising the significant changes introduced by the NIS 2 Directive. Her presentation highlighted how these regulatory updates aim to strengthen cybersecurity measures across various sectors, ensuring a more robust defense against potential threats.
Participants also gained an understanding of the draft Serbian Law on Information Security, which seeks to align with European standards and enhance the country’s cybersecurity framework. This legislation is crucial for establishing clearer guidelines and responsibilities for organisations handling sensitive information.
Furthermore, Andrej Stojić from Oktacron presented real-world examples of cyber incidents, including ransomware attacks, illustrating the critical importance of preventive measures. His insights underscored the need for organisations to adopt proactive strategies to enhance their cybersecurity resilience.
