Karanovic & Partners once again supported the 2019 Balkan General Counsel Summit, organized by CEE Legal Matters. The Summit was held on 10 October in Belgrade for the second time in a row and gathered around 100 participants from all over the region. Our Managing Partner Rastko Petaković, Partners* Milena Jakšić Papac and Goran Radošević and Senior Assocciate* Sanja Spasenović took part in the conference.
Petaković held a presentation about the upcoming challenges for the legal profession in the digital age, or rather, the fourth industrial revolution.
“The business is shifting and is more demanding than ever. Law firms are about to face significant changes. Lawyers will have to go back to their clients and offer deep understanding of their problems and constant feedback on one side, while embracing new technologies and close cooperation with IT community in order to help them to understand client needs while developing AI legal solutions on the other side”,
said Petaković.
He talked about numerous contemporary concepts that law firms are already implementing, after which a Q&A session was held.
Goran Radošević was the moderator of the panel dedicated to data protection in the Balkan, while Sanja Spasenović shared her perspective on the same topic as a panellist. Milena Jakšić Papac was successfully hosting the entire conference.
Balkan General Counsel Summit is a peer-to-peer full-day conference aimed at Chief Legal Officers from the region. The Summit consists of series of presentations and panel discussions on subjects of common interest to senior in-house counsel from the Balkans, and serves as a platform for sharing best practices regarding the retaining and management of external counsel, the creation and oversight of efficient and productive in-house legal departments, and staying abreast of current legislative developments, as well as providing a valuable opportunity for networking with peers.
