In a joint effort to recognize and promote exemplary Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in the local market, AmCham Serbia, a non-profit business association and Kearney, a renowned global management consulting firm, organized a conference. The event, which took place on 30 May 2023 in Belgrade, aimed to shed light on successful ESG strategies and facilitate discussions on effective implementation methods.
The collaborative initiative between AmCham Serbia and Kearney called the ESG Champions, was launched in late 2022. Its primary goal was to acknowledge companies that exhibited outstanding results in environmental protection, social responsibility, and conscientious corporate governance. By showcasing these ESG champions, the organizers sought to inspire other companies and stimulate a broader dialogue on ESG practices within the local business community.
The conference commenced with opening remarks from Ronald Seeliger, Second Vice President at AmCham Serbia, and Marko Derča, Partner at Kearney, who expressed their enthusiasm for the event and the potential it holds for further advancing ESG initiatives in Serbia. This was followed by a series of thought-provoking panel discussions featuring an array of experts from various local industries.
One of the speakers at the conference was Ivana Karanović, Head of Learning and Development at Karanović & Partners. She participated in a panel discussion dedicated to exploring the risks and opportunities associated with generational and cultural differences in the business landscape. The discussion shed light on how embracing diversity and leveraging the strengths of each generation and culture to drive innovation and achieve business goals.
One of the key highlights of the conference was the announcement of the 2023 ESG Champion. This prestigious accolade recognized that this time IKEA demonstrated the highest level of maturity in implementing ESG principles within the local context.
The joint conference organized by AmCham Serbia and Kearney successfully provided a platform for knowledge exchange surrounding ESG practices. It celebrated the achievements of ESG Champions, facilitated discussions, and contributed to the ongoing development of a sustainable business ecosystem in Serbia.
