Our Partner Petar Mitrović took part in the Western Balkans 2022 Energy Week. The conference was held from 6 to 8 September in Budva, Montenegro.
The event gathered authorities and energy companies from the Western Balkans along with the international financial institutions and major multinational investors, EPC and consultancy firms for a dialogue aimed at encouraging foreign direct investment and development of renewable energy in the region.
On the first day of the conference, Petar moderated session that dealt with challenges renewables projects are facing with procuring financing. Petar placed the focus of the discussion on the question whether the current circumstances and, in particular, unprecedented electricity prices could change some of the basic postulates of project financing. The panel gathered representatives of development financial institutions, export credit agencies and sponsors active in the field.
The next day, on the panel dealing with integration of renewables, Petar presented his views on future of renewables in Serbia. His presentation “A new energy perspective for Serbia – renewables will reign” dealt with the plans for decarbonisation Serbia is preparing, acute challenges for further deployment of renewables and suggestions how to address them. “If Serbia wants to honour its international obligations but more importantly obligations towards future generations, the most responsible stakeholders must sit together and reach a compromise that will result in creation of stable and predictable framework for renewables that will not only support the overall economic growth but will be actually driving it” Petar noted.
Our Senior Partner Miloš Vučković as well as our colleague from Ilej & Partners in cooperation with Karanović & Partners Partner Ivana Sverak, also attended the conference.
The conference was organised by Invest In Network whom we thank for the trust they vested in us as their knowledge partner.
