Karanovic & Partners in cooperation with local lawyers organised a regional IP guide webinar for university and high-school students on 17 November 2021.
The panel was moderated by Nikola Kliska, Head of IP and Senior Associate, while the speakers included Ljupka Noveska Andonova, Nihad Odobašić and Marija Stojanović, attorneys at law in cooperation with Karanovic & Partners, as well as Boris Dvoršćak, Attorney at law from Ilej & Partners in cooperation with Karanovic & Partners and Kevin Rihtar, Attorney at law from Ketler & Partners, member of Karanovic.
One of the key takeaways were the basic postulates of intellectual property rights on real-life examples, as well as how does the intellectual property law, especially copyright, applies in the digital word. The students also had interesting questions, such as if they can trademark their own name and if their TikTok video can be protected by copyright.
The IP guide “The Law of k/reativity” is a short guide trough intellectual property law (copyright, patents, trademarks, industrial design and trade secrets). It is intended for fledgling artists, scientists and creators, in order to introduce them to the basic postulates of IP law and is available to young people in the region: North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia, as well as in Serbian and English.
