Karanović & Partners held a Contract Management Masterclass dedicated to construction disputes under FIDIC in the SEE region on 7 November in partnership with Pinsent Masons and Thomas-Koziarski Consulting. The event was held at the Karanovic & Partners office premises, and was attended by representatives of renowned construction companies, as well as various professionals from the legal and real estate industries.
The event began with a thorough introduction to the workshop case study, which was the focus for the rest of the day.
Keynote speakers, including Senior Partner Milan Lazić and Senior Associates* Milica Savić, Milorad Gajić and Ana Luković talked about claims procedures under FIDIC, termination and suspension of works, enforcing performance guarantees, possibilities to get interim measures before national courts and under emergency arbitrator procedure, etc.
Pinsent Masons Partner Charles Blamire-Brown and Senior Associate Clea Bigelow-Nuttall provided excellent insight and key information of utmost importance regarding this subject.
Representing TK Consulting were Frank Thomas, Founding Partner and Partner for SEE Milan Perić.
Our special guest was Živa Filipič, Managing Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, who gave interesting insight as to how tribunals perceive and analyse construction claims and disputes.
After the main part of the event, a Q&A session was held, followed by lunch.
This is the second part of the Karanović & Partners Contract Management Masterclass. The first one dedicated to Challenges of Contracting under FIDIC in the SEE region was held in April 2019.
