On 28 November 2024, our colleagues from Ketler & Partners, member of Karanovic, in collaboration with VIAC (Vienna International Arbitral Center), Ljubljana Arbitration Center (LAC), DLA Piper, and CMS Slovenia, successfully hosted the event Navigating Arbitration: Essential Skills for Lawyers and In-House Counsel conference at the Grand Plaza Hotel Ljubljana.
The event began with welcome remarks by our colleague Partner Minu A. Gvardjančič and VIAC CAN Ambassador for Slovenia, followed by an insightful introductory speech by Aleš Galič, Full Professor at the Faculty of Law and Chairman of the Board of LAC, who addressed the important issue of abuse of rights in arbitration proceedings.
This was followed by a comprehensive panel discussion focusing on key considerations for lawyers and in-house counsel in preparing for and navigating arbitration disputes. Expert panellists shared practical insights on managing complex arbitration cases, offering participants valuable strategies and approaches to handle disputes effectively.
The conference concluded with the engaging VIAC Workshop: A-B-C of Arbitration, which provided participants with a detailed, hands-on overview of the arbitration process, further deepening their understanding of the field.
