The newly appointed Minister of Transport of North Macedonia, Mr. Aleksandar Nikoloski, recently announced that the new government plans to expand the telephone services market in the country by adding a new (third) telecommunications provider.
Mr. Nikoloski announced that in the upcoming period, North Macedonia will encourage some of the world’s largest telecommunications companies to enter the market. The new telecommunications provider would be chosen through a public bidding process.
Currently, North Macedonia has two mobile carriers – Makedonski Telekom (part of the Deutsche Telekom) and A1 (part of the A1 Group), with Lycamobile also present on the market as an MVNO.
