On 16 November, our colleagues from Ketler & Partners, member of Karanovic, organised a Business Breakfast on the effective resolution of commercial disputes in cooperation with the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) and Ljubljana Arbitration Centre (LAC). The event took place in the Best Westen Premier Hotel Slon in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The event aimed to showcase optimal and most effective methods and strategies in dealing with commercial disputes, ensuring their speedy and cost-effective resolutions, to current and prospective clients. Participants eagerly shared their expertise, promoting constructive discussions on the subject matter.
The event was opened with an introductory greeting by our colleague Minu A. Gvardjančič, Partner at Ketler & Partners, member of Karanovic, who also moderated the first panel, where Gregor Zemljarič Senior Associate and Luka Skledar Legal Adviser, discussed characteristics of arbitration and litigation proceedings, namely their respective advantages and disadvantages, the specifics of what to look out for when drafting an arbitration agreement and concluded with finality and enforceability of decisions in both proceedings. The second panel was held by Ema Potočnik from the VIAC and the representatives of LAC, Žana Cerjak and Barbara Gnilšak, who gave detailed presentations on the functioning of the associated arbitral institutions and the costs involved.
The event was concluded by a third panel hosted by our colleagues Gregor Lipovec and Beluar Nasufi, Legal Advisers, and Ines Testen, Associate at Ketler & Partners, member of Karanovic, where participants were familiarised with cost comparison, together with privacy and the possibility of mediation in relation to both litigation and arbitration proceedings.
The gathering witnessed a diverse group of professionals, varying from legal experts to business owners. Looking ahead, we remain excited to organize more similar events in the future, recognizing the value they bring to clients regarding legal updates and networking opportunities.
